Work

Websites & software, start to finish

A closer look at projects for businesses, nonprofits, and community groups: what each one needed, and what was built.

WebsiteCivil Engineering

Siegfried Engineering

Role: Design & Development

A California civil engineering firm needed a full redesign ahead of its 70th anniversary, to match updated branding and attract larger clients instead of small residential inquiries.

Highlights

  • Nineteen redesigned pages, plus Projects and News sections
  • An interactive company timeline and awards section
  • Internship pages and expanded company storytelling
  • A secure contact form
  • Written guides and video tutorials so staff can update the site
  • Built on WordPress, with every change reviewed on a staging site before going live

Result: Launched on time and on budget, raised the Google PageSpeed score from 65 to 95, and cut down on off-target inquiries.

“The process was smooth, collaborative, and efficient, from initial concept to final launch. Kara brought a sharp eye for design, clear communication, and a deep understanding of how to translate our brand into a modern, functional site.”
Siegfried Engineering
WebsiteSoftware PlatformStorage & Moving

CrateMates

Role: Design & Development

A custom operations platform for a storage-and-moving business, built for multiple locations and four kinds of users: customers, staff, franchise owners, and admins.

Highlights

  • A customer portal showing every stored item, organized by vault, searchable and sortable
  • Online pickup and delivery requests, so customers don't have to call
  • Billing history customers can check on their own
  • A staff dashboard for incoming requests, job logging, route tracking, and inventory
“Kara designed the website for both of my companies, Lodi Hauling and CrateMates, and she has been amazing to say the least. Our websites have been a game changer because our clients trust us before even talking to us due to the professionalism of our sites. She's always patient with us when we are trying to articulate our ideas, she's saved us countless hours with our estimate forms, we can trust her 100%. 10/10 would recommend Prado's Pixels to any and everybody!”
Gavin Loehrer, owner of Lodi Hauling and CrateMates
WebsiteBusiness Services

Brookside CXO

Role: Design & Development

Brookside CXO is a fractional back office for growing Northern California companies: employee benefits, accounting, payroll, HR, recruiting, and commercial insurance under one team. It needed a site that explains all of that clearly and turns visitors into conversations.

Highlights

  • Full redesign and rebuild, from first prototype to launch
  • A custom theme on HubSpot, so their team can edit pages and publish posts themselves
  • A contact form that feeds straight into their HubSpot CRM
  • A blog for sharing updates and expertise
WebsiteNonprofit, Housing & Recovery

Exodus Homes of Northern California

Role: Branding, Design & Development

A sober living nonprofit offering shelter, job placement, and counseling. Its founder needed a complete online presence to start operations, and a working website was required before grant funding could be approved.

Highlights

  • A simple brand identity the founder can keep using without a designer
  • Full website design and build, with custom copy for every page
  • Online donations
  • A matching Facebook page
  • Ongoing maintenance after launch

Result: Online donations rose nearly 45% once giving moved online, supporting the nonprofit's fundraising toward opening its first home.

WebsiteEducation

Stockton Charter Collective

Role: Design & Development, On A Team Of Six

Seven charter schools, each with its own name and branding, needed families to recognize them as one group and understand the benefits of enrolling.

Highlights

  • One site uniting all seven schools, with quick links to each school's own site
  • Full Spanish translation for the local community
  • An interactive FAQ
  • An enrollment interest form
  • A blog template for consistent future posts

Result: The bilingual enrollment campaign reached more than 23,000 visitors in three months.

WebsiteAdvocacy & Agriculture

Keep Santa Barbara Growing

Role: Website Design

A coalition of farmers, small businesses, workers, and vintners rallying support against proposals that threatened Santa Barbara agriculture. They needed to educate the public and turn that into signatures.

Highlights

  • A homepage carousel of sponsor ads, testimonials, and explainers over local farm photography
  • A "Get The Facts" research page
  • A petition page that tracks signatures
  • Clear calls to sign, share, and follow throughout the site
  • A "Who We Are" section telling the coalition's personal stories
WebsiteSoftware PlatformMarketing & Advertising

Bambam.ai

Role: Design, On A Team Of Six

Bambam.ai creates and schedules social media posts automatically for inventory-heavy businesses like real estate agencies and auto dealerships. Its early landing page didn't explain the product or make the next step obvious.

Highlights

  • Full website redesign built around a clear explanation of the product
  • A prominent sign-up button on every screen, replacing a hard-to-spot floating one
  • A new style guide to carry the brand into future phases
  • A redesign built to meet WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards, including color contrast fixes for buttons and text
  • A pricing table that makes the difference between plans easy to see
WebsiteNonprofit, Social Services

Trin'Naz Helping Hands

Role: Volunteer Design, On A Team Of Three

A nonprofit rebuilt pro bono in 48 hours during a 48in48 event. The old site was dense, hard to read, and had no way to donate or get in touch.

Highlights

  • A warm new color palette and clear layout that points visitors to what matters
  • Rewritten, easy-to-skim copy
  • Impact numbers front and center
  • Online donations and a contact form, both added from scratch
WebsiteRetail, Vintage & Antiques

Claudia's Closet

Role: Website Design

A local brick-and-mortar vintage market offering antiques, gifts, home goods, and baked goods.

WebsitePhotography
